Dicom Media Bridge is a codec that allows multimedia applications to read Dicom files and adds some Dicom features to the Windows File Explorer.
With Dicom Media Bridge you can:
The images embedded into the Dicom files can have one of the following formats:
- Uncompressed
- RLE compressed
- Jpeg lossless (up to 16 bits per color channel)
- Jpeg lossy (up to 12 bits per color channel)
- When used as a DirectX codec then Dicom Media Bridge fits the Dicom images into a rectangle with the width/height ratio of 4/3 (16/9 for the HD version), so they will not be stretched by applications that can deal only with video samples (e.g.: Windows Movie Maker).
- High resolution images are scaled down to a maximum resolution of 768 by 576 pixels (1920 by 1080 for the HD version).
