Description
Dicom Media Bridge is a dicom codec for Windows(1) that allows multimedia applications to read and display multiframe or single-frame Dicom files.
Now you can view the Dicom thumbnail in the file explorer, convert a Dicom file into an AVI, DIVX, WMV or other media file so they can be included in your documents or Powerpoint(1) presentations, or use your preferred movie player as a dicom viewer for multiframe dicom files.
On Windows XP right-click on a file with .dcm, .dic or .dicom extension and click on “Copy” and voilà, the image can be pasted into any application that can handle images, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint(1), Adobe Photoshop(2), OpenOffice(3) and thousand of other.
With Dicom Media Bridge you can:
- Use your preferred media player (e.g. Windows Media Player(1) or Divx Player(4)) as a dicom viewer
- Transform your Dicom files into Windows Media Video files (WMV) or RealVideo (RV) with the free applications Windows Media Encoder(1) or RealProducer(5)
Prepare nice presentations using Windows Movie Maker(1) or other Video Editing applications - Embed the videos converted with Dicom Media Bridge and the free tool Windows Media Encoder(1) in your PowerPoint presentations
- View thumbnail previews of the Dicom files in your folders (only for the files that have the dcm, dic or dicom extension)
- Dicom Media Bridge can read Dicom files and NEMA files that contain images in one of the following formats:
- Uncompressed
- RLE compressed
- Jpeg lossless (up to 16 bits per color channel)
- Jpeg lossy (up to 12 bits per color channel)
Dicom Media Bridge fits the Dicom images into a rectangle with the width/height ratio of 4/3, so they will not be stretched by applications that can deal only with video samples (e.g.: Windows Movie Maker).
High resolution images are scaled down to a maximum resolution of 768 by 576 pixels, to avoid artifacts introduced by DirectShow when the video samples’ size exceedes the size of the memory installed in the video card.
