The beta version of Imebra is coming |

A beta version of Imebra, the open source Dicom library from Puntoexe, is going to be released in April 2007. The major innovation is the introduction of the "load on demand": the Dicom tags can be loaded from the file only when needed; this decreases the amount of RAM needed when opening a file that contains several images or other tags that contain a lot of data.
The "Load on demand" is already being used in the upcoming version of "Dicom Media Bridge", the DirectX Dicom codec from Puntoexe. "Load on demand" is transparent to the application: the library will automatically load a tag from the source file when it is needed, and discard it when the application doesn't need the tag anymore. When the application wants a write access to one tag not currently loaded then Imebra loads the tag and disables the "Load on demand" feature for that tag. A redesign of the file system is also on the way: combined with the "Load on demand" this change will increase the overall speed of the library. |
